Kachreti Town Continues to Grow
Kachreti, like many small towns in Georgia had declined after the breakup of the old Soviet Union. Kachreti has however begun to turn that decline around. In the last few months, Kachreti has gained two national supermarkets – Magniti and Spar – and several small shops have opened in unused buildings including clothing shops and bakeries. Other buildings are being restored and reused. I had predicted two years ago that kachreti would return as a town once again after initially losing its town status. I hope to see many more entrepreneurs opening their doors in the next year. I wish much success to those new businesses.
Why Love Kachreti
All Kakhetian people love nature and so much so in Kachreti. Kachreti is in the middle of the grape growing region of Kakheti.
The weather in Kachreti is not the same as in Tbilisi. There is rarely any wind. In general the winters are warmer. Snow is a rarity. So is prolonged rain. When rain comes it is usually a downpour and finishes quickly. It’s not unusual to have months when you can’t remember the last time it rained…
